Approaching closer to the goal of becoming an SCI-level international journal
Integrative Medicine Research (IMR), an international journal in integrative medicine published by KIOM, was listed on the Emerging Sources Citation Index (ESCI), a database for academic papers on the Web of Science platform operated by Thomson Reuters in the U.S., in June.
With the inclusion in ESCI, articles published in IMR starting in 2016 will be made available for search along with SCI-level journals in the Web of Science Core Collection section, and thus be more easily searched and cited by researchers around the world.
ESCI is a database newly introduced on the Web of Science in November 2015 to allow newly published academic journals or those in emerging fields to be cited on the platform prior to being listed on SCI(E), SSCI or A&HCI.
ESCI’s criteria for selection require journals to be (1) high quality, (2) peer-reviewed publications of regional importance, and belong to (3) emerging scientific fields.
Academic journals listed on ESCI are examined for inclusion on SCI(E) after one to three years of observation. This means that IMR will be put to the decision for inclusion on SCI(E) in one to three years from 2016.
First published in December 2012, IMR has been issued 14 times until June 2016 by the Editorial Board, which is led by Editor-in-Chief Earm Yung E, a professor at Seoul National University, and consists of 55 members from 10 countries. Promotion of IMR is being made in Korea through annual academic conferences, programs on how to write academic papers in English, and support for academic exchange and sharing of research outcomes among researchers.
Articles published in IMR can be viewed and downloaded on the homepage of the journal (www.imr-journal.com) and academic search systems such as the Korea Citation Index, Google Scholar and Science Direct.
| Integrative Medicine Research (IMR) is a quarterly, peer-reviewed, subsidized open access journal published by Elsevier for KIOM on the theme of integrative medicine. IMR was selected as a candidate for the National Research Foundation of Korea's list of academic journals. The selection is considered to indicate its recognition as a distinguished academic journal and its establishment as a leading English journal on Korean medicine.
