Exchange and sharing of newest research trends on stroke, constitution, herbal medicine, and cold-heat pattern identification
Major research institutions in traditional medicine in Korea and China came together to share information on the newest research trends and strengthen mutual cooperation

KIOM held the 2016 Korea-China Symposium on Traditional Medicine on the theme of Step towards Korea-China Joint Research with China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS) at Jema Hall in the KM Standards Center of KIOM on November 30.
The two organizations agreed to hold the joint yearly symposium alternately when they concluded the Memorandum of Understanding for mutual exchanges and cooperation in October 2011, and the sixth annual symposium was organized this year.
In this year’s symposium, experts on stroke, constitution, herbal medicine, and cold-heat pattern identification gave presentations on the newest research trends in their relevant fields.
In the first session on stroke, Senior Researcher Lee Ju-ah of the KM Fundamental Research Division at KIOM gave a presentation on the issue of ‘Co-research of Korea and China: focused on the pattern identification of stroke and herbal medicines’ whereas Associate Researcher Li Yuanyuan at the Institute of Basic Research in Clinical Medicine of CACMS talked on the theme of ‘Stroke risk factors and the distribution of syndromes of China.’
In the second session, which is about constitution, Principal Researcher Kim Jong-yeol of KIOM’s KM Fundamental Research Division talked about the issue of ‘Analysis of Sasang constitution and Wutairen of Chinese youth (pilot study)’ and Wang Hao, research secretary at the Institute of Basic Research in Clinical Medicine of CACMS gave a presentation on the theme of ‘Five pattern people and Sasang people.’
In the third session on herbal medicine, Principal Researcher Moon Byeongcheol at the K-herb Research Center of KIOM and Deputy Director Li Xiwen at the Institute of Chinese Materia Medica of CACMS spoke on the themes of ‘Research on the origin of imported medicinal materials for the development of molecular authentication marker’ and ‘Traditional medicine identification using DNA barcoding,’ respectively.
In the final session, which is on cold-heat pattern identification, Senior Researcher Lee Yeongseob of the Mibyeong Research Center of KIOM and Director Chen Xiaoye at the Institute of Basic Theory for Traditional Chinese Medicine of CACMS gave presentations on the themes of ‘Research trends about cold-heat pattern identification in Korea’ and ‘Coronary heart disease: Heat syndrome has been neglected,’ respectively. |
